The labor ministry in Japan recently removed a rule banning people from taking on a second job without the permission of their employers. Instead, workers must inform their employer before taking another job. The government is now considering other labor reforms, including a cap on the number of hours a worker can work overtime each month. Since many workers depend on overtime pay, this could significantly cut into their income.
